I was running this morning and saw the signs and tents put up for the Sundown Marathoners last night. The Sundown Marathon was about 84km and I really peifu those who managed to complete this feat. It isn’t easy running a full marathon already and this is twice the length of that! Thinking back of my pathetic attempt in Dec of 7.5hours I remembered the agony and pain I went. I should have never stopped to walk at East Coast Park. I had injured my ankle without warming down properly and it was regretable that I hasd to walk to the finishing point from that moment onwards. Walking down the scorching hot sun trying to shift my weight on to the other foot and keeping track of my body conditions was a nightmare cos I had to refrain myself from running in case I further aggrevated my injury. Yeah, at that point I just wanted to reach the end point quickly but I couldn’t. Really salute the guys in this sundown marathon.
I was at my favourite running place at about 9 plus and there were still people at the tents so I guess they must have been waiting for the last few runners. The last runner was expected to finish at 11am but I guess with the rain in the early morning, there could have been some delays along the way for them. It isn’t safe to run when it’s raining cos you can easily slip and fall when you’re not focused.
Will I take part in the SC marathon again this year? I don’t think so but the half marathon is definitely doable so I might do that. Afterall, having done the full makes the half seem so much easier. But I’ve got to get back to my perfect form. Can’t even run 5km now without stopping so…..hahaha… better rebuild my stamina first. I love the rush of blood all over my body after running. It’s so addictive…It’s time to enmass my running music again!
